(Reuters) - An increase in cannabis use among U.S. teenagers over the past Twenty Years has no considerable connection to the legalization of cannabis for med use in many states, according to a new research paper.
Comparing studies of cannabis use by teenagers carried out annually by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, analysts discovered the probability that a high schooler had utilized pot in the last 30 days was no more than 0.8 percent higher in legal states compared with states that had not authorized med cannabis.
"Our results are not constant with the hypothesis that the legalization of med cannabis caused a boost in the use of cannabis among secondary school students," D. Mark Anderson of Montana State University, Daniel Rees of the University of Colorado and Benjamin Hansen of the University of Oregon composed.
