The Dominican Republic and where to stay
Numerous offline and online publications have published that the Dominican Republic is actually the vacation hotspot in the world for Americans to go during the holidays.? It wasn't always like that, but it is certainly true now. Tourists flock en masse to the Dominican Republic. There is a reason this country has so much allure for American travelers. First, the location makes it quite easy to get to a nice warm tropical paradise without breaking the bank or loosing too much sleep. You can get from the East Coast of the US to the Dominican Republic in 3 hours or less. The process to go through customs has been simplified to the point that is relatively easy. Then another part of the allure is all the modern resorts that have been built over the last two decades. On the Caribbean south coast you have growing tourist areas like Bayahibe which serves as the gateway to Saona Island.

The Punta Cana resorts that have been built in the last decade are as nice as any resorts in the entire world PLUS they are adjacent to the most beautiful beaches in the world. To me, this makes these resorts the best resorts in the world. Of course, there are other advantages to staying in Punta Cana too. This is an area with plenty of wild areas to explore when you want to get away from the resorts. This includes Saona and Catalina neither of which are far and also many other natural areas such as the rivers that run through the gorges and the Taino caves naturally carved out of limestone and containing Taino cave paintings! Of course you can always come back to your Punta Cana resort after one of these adventures and spend a relaxing day at the spa or just sink into a nice whirlpool sauna. I'll let you decide whether or not this is a good thing but it has improved the economy of the entire country. Almost all the resorts have restaurants and activities for the adults as well.
