Due for a short break: check Punta Cana, the top beach destination on this planet.
With a coastline of more then 30 miles (55km), bordering the Atlantic Ocean, Punta Cana has many beaches. These beaches are seen as the best of the world, with miles of white sand and big coconut trees. The beaches win awards every year and the popular media can't stop raving about the attractiveness. And genuine beach bums will hunt for the rural beaches. Playa Bavaro is regarded as the popular and busiest beach around Punta Cana. To the south side of Punta Cana you will find the lesser visited beaches. However the coastline tends to be more rocky and during some months of the year seaweed will drift ashore. The beaches towards the North of Punta Cana have more yellow-colored sand, but they are tranquil and delightful. We have detailed the best beaches beneath, but no matter what beach you chose in the Dominican Republic, you just can't go wrong.

The beaches on Saona Island are some of the most beautiful white sand beaches in the Caribbean. Saona Island is a very popular area of the National Park of the East and is home to 112 species of birds, in the surrounding waters sea turtles, bottle-nose dolphins, whales and manatees have been observed. Most beaches on Saona have tourist facilities such as bathrooms, showers and shaded picnic tables for visitors........

Cayo Levantado: On the Peninsula of Samaná, along the east coast of the Dominican Republic, this island near the mouth of Bahía de Samaná lies 7km (4 1/3 miles) southeast of the town of Samaná. It can be reached easily by boat. Once on this island, beach lovers will find three beautiful strips of white sand, but little in the way of facilities. A tropical forest covers much of this hill-studded island, and when not enjoying the beach, you can go hiking along trails that are cut through the junglelike vegetation. Cayo Levantado was known to TV watchers in the '70s as the famous Bacardi Rum island, featured in commercials.
